The Horrorist Prt1 : P30
We're having a pretty good Summer here in England, and it's a real treat for us, because, as some of you outside the country might have heard, we can't rely on such a thing. Sadly, the winters don't have a similar capacity to surprise us . This page from the Horrorist is my current post here simply because it was easy to access at a busy time, but it's a good page to post because although there's nothing spectacular about it, it's use of colour and tone successfully captures the kind of bleakness and grimness of a suburban town winter here. I grew up in a place like this and I grew to hate it. Nothing bright or energising was around to alleviate the dullness of the windswept high street and it's low-grade stores and cafes, and the only escape for those like me lay in escapism.
The colours here on this scan are exactly as muted as they are on the original, giving the right atmosphere of darkness and gloom for a late afternoon in a late month of the year.
Frankly, I'd advise you not to spend too much time looking at it...
