Big Book of Scandal : Charlie Chaplin Pg1
This one isn't from original art because it wasn't immediately to hand. I just wanted to add it here because it's yet another example of using a completely different style of art for a specific purpose. This time in depicting the sometimes comedic personal life of the comic genius Charlie Chaplin. Out and out humor-cartoon style is the recipe I used here, though I blended in enough realism in likenesses to correctly portray the identities of individual cast members. Just brush and ink and some black crayon, with some fine-liner for simple background figures and furnishing.
It's from one of several collections of stories detailing facts and incidents from history that DC/Paradox published as the Big Book series. They covered a wide range of subjects from the deadly serious to the silly, with scores of artists being employed to draw just one short piece in each book. In contrast - and for speed and efficiency no doubt - all the stories in the books were handled by one writer per volume. In this case it was Jonathan Vankin. The books are a never-less- than-entertaining mix of art styes and fascinating facts. You should seek them out if you've never heard of them before.

It's a cool page. I like the effect you achieved with the crayon.
