Night Raven : House Of Cards was published twice by Marvel UK. Once in an A4 format which was a joy to behold - giving the art great space to breathe in - and then a little while later in a standard comic-book size with a different, action-oriented, cover. The first time, it was hardly publicized, but still delivered a welcome royalty cheque. It's my conviction that it surprised Marvel UK by selling so well without much effort being made to sell it, and that's why they re-published it a little later, realising their error. But I might be wrong. At any rate, the second-time around, when it was given a little shove into the fast-running waters of the market, it made another chunk of royalties for me. Which was nice.
The page here is mainly ' silent ' as you can see. The action isn't fast, but its choreography is clear. In truth, the art subverts the action in much of this book, but I think it was a small sacrifice in support of creating the atmosphere and style we wanted the book to have - the look of another time and the style of the pulps.
